Total fashion sales in the UK jumped by 83.04% in the week to 16 January, BDO’s High Street Sales Tracker shows.
In-store fashion sales soared by 12,152.87% year on year in the same week, BDO’s High Street Sales Tracker shows. This was compared with the equivalent week last year when the UK was in lockdown and retail stores were forced to close.
The BDO High Street Sales Tracker covers online and in-store sales across fashion, homeware and lifestyle.
Total like-for-like sales increased by 60.65% from a base of -19.69% for the same week last year. Meanwhile, total non-store like-for-like sales grew by 1.16% from a solid base of 133.52% the year before.
Overall footfall saw an increase of 160% this week, compared to the equivalent week last year.
Footfall on the high street was also up by 181.5% year on year, while footfall at shopping centres improved by 202.6%, and in retail parks by 68.6%.
