Forbidden Planet store holds grand opening in Hull's Prospect Centre

The new Forbidden Planet store celebrated its grand opening in the Prospect Centre, Hull city centre, today.

A large number of fans queued outside the store before the doors opened at 11am. The welcome event featured cosplayers, games and goodie bags.

Forbidden Planet sells a huge range of toys, collectibles, graphic novels, comics, sci-fi, movie and TV merchandise. The Hull store is the chain's 16th around the country and joins venues including Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester.

While the store had a soft launch last Monday, November 21, Saturday's event had been eagerly anticipated. Queues for the tills extended to the back of the store and the goodie bags were all snapped up within 10 minutes of the shutters going up.

A spokesperson for Forbidden Planet said: "We're so happy to let you know that we are opening our brand new store here in Hull on November 21st! We're excited to be bringing the Forbidden Planet magic to Hull.

"If you haven't heard of us, we are the UK’s leading seller of cult movie, TV, comics and manga-related books and merchandise. We stock a range of over 35,000 products sourced from around the globe and our staff are all fans themselves.

"We continue to establish retail partnerships with some of the biggest manufacturers in our field to go along with those we are proud to already hold with the likes of Funko, Bandai and Abysse. We have built a massive base of loyal customers and are constantly reaching new ones."
