Uniqlo's Covent Garden debut store next spring

Uniqlo will open a new store in Covent Garden next spring as it further expands across the UK.

The Covent Garden store will is located in the heart of the famous shopping district with entrances on Long Acre and Floral Street.

The three floor store will feature menswear, womenswear, kids and baby.

Uniqlo UK COO Alessandro Dudech said: “It’s an honour to be opening in an area of London with such cultural and retail heritage and continuing to expand our UK presence in important retail locations.

“With such a strong footfall from both Londoners and tourists, we look forward to offering LifeWear to new and existing Uniqlo customers.”

The new store, which will be its 17th in the UK, follows the opening of Uniqlo’s Battersea Power Station store, which opened last month.

Covent Garden developer Capital & Counties executive director Michelle McGrath said the Uniqlo opening would “further strengthen Covent Garden’s appeal as a differentiated shopping and dining destination”.

In Europe (excluding Russia), Uniqlo International reported a 20.3% revenue increase to £6.5 billion (¥1.1 trillion). This was driven by greater support for the brand's LifeWear concept, a rise in the number of new customers and "strong" sales in its regional flagship stores in European cities.

Fast Retailing Group also confirmed it will accelerate new store openings in fiscal 2023, especially at Uniqlo International. The group forecasts it will operate a total of 3,747 stores by the end of August 2023 across all of its brands. From this, Uniqlo International will have 1,740 stores.

Further details are expected in the new year.
